Cats and Kittens

‘Gosh, Isn’t there a lot of cats in here!’  Is often exclaimed by visitors to the shop.

It’s a fair comment. There are 15 resident “shop” cats on the premise during opening hours indulging in as many strokes and cuddles as they can get, sleeping in the weighing scales, helping themselves to cat food and conveniently lying in the window.

How come there are so many? Well, we used to take in kittens and cats from the general public to sell on but recently we have stopped doing this. It was hard to be completely certain that they were bred in the right conditions and had the necessary vaccinations that they need before going to their new home. Now we only breed from our own cats which means we can guarantee their history. Breeding British Short haired Chinchillas as well as what you call ‘Moggies’.

Although several of the adult rescue cats remain and some are re-homed, for the most part they live out their lives in the luxury of the shop.

If you want to buy a kitten from us you need to speak to Stephen Edgington direct. Our kittens are very popular and there is often a waiting list. We only ever have one litter in the store at a time. This way you can see them with their mother (A recommended must for anyone considering buying a cat)They are also “socialised” before they are ready to go home with you. Gaining confidence in the shop environment, getting used to adults and children, dogs, rabbits and anything else that wanders through our store.  By the time they go they are pretty much ready for anything!

They cost between £150 – £350.
